Ngo, Huu Hao (Hao) is currently a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering and being Deputy Director, Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater, and Co-Director, Joint Research Centre for Environmental Green Bioprocess, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, FEIT, University of Technology Sydney. He has been elected as President, International Bioprocessing Association, Distinguished Fellow of International Bioprocessing Association, and Fellow of International Water Association. He is also the Founder and Executive Coordinator of the Australasia Practical Net Zero Emissions Society. Hao’s expertise and practical experience include advanced biological waste/wastewater treatment processes, circular economy based green technologies, bioenergy, resource recovery, bioenergy, minimization of wastes and net zero emissions, membrane technologies, alternative water resources, and environmental impacts assessment. Hao was named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science) in two categories, Environment and Ecology and Biology and Biochemistry, in 2022 and 2021; in Biology and Chemistry in 2020; and in the Cross-Field category in 2019. By SciVal Elsevier 10-year World ranking (2013-2022), Hao was rank #1 in Waste Management and Disposal, #2 in Environmental Engineering and #6 in Bioengineering. In the World Ranking by Scholar GPSTM in 2024, Hao was ranked #1 in Membrane Bioreactor, #2 in Wastewater, #3 in Bioreactor, and #4 in Wastewater Treatment based on the prior five years. According to Scholar rankings by THE AUSTRALIAN, Hao has been recognized as a Leader in Environmental Science and Biotechnology in 2021 and 2023, a Leader in Environmental Science in 2020, and a Leader in Biotechnology in 2019 in Australia. Hao has published over 750 publications, including 16 books and 54 book chapters, with over 54,000 citations and an h-index of 110 (Google, June 2024). Hao was former Editor/Executive Editor of Bioresource Technology, Elsevier and currently serves as Editor of Chemical Engineering Journal, Associate Editor of Science of the Total Environment, Elsevier, Journal of Water Process Engineering, Elsevier, Heliyon Journal, Elsevier; Journal of Environmental Functional Materials, KeAi; and Editor, Journal of Earth and Environmental Sciences, VNU. He is also an editorial board member of numerous international journals such as Bioresource Technology Reports, Elsevier; Environmental Nanotechnology, Monitoring and Management, Elsevier; Environmental Science and Ecotechnology, EHIT, Journal of Bioengineered, Taylor & Francis, and Advisory Board Member, Water Cycle, KeAi.
